The Charleston Pour House is proud to present the Charleston Pour House 10th Anniversary Week Celebration & 2nd Annual Mural Competition. The mural project is a competition for local artists to paint representational art on the outside and restaurant walls and the deck fence of the popular music venue. The week-long event will be August 27th thru September 3rd and will include live music on two stages and voting from the event attendees.
The Pour House invites proposals for a mural design to compete for three prizes, including a grand prize of $500 in cash.

LIVE PAINTING DATES
Painting of the mural must be completed by September 2, 2012. Live painting is required during the celebration on September 1-2, 2012, though artists will be able to start painting on Monday, August 27, 2012 (festivities for the anniversary will start on Monday also). Artists will be able to paint from 11am-11pm.
Artists will be selected to participate by a panel of Pour House staff. The public will vote starting on September 2nd and online the following week. Three artists will be selected as finalists. The artist with the most votes will receive the $500 first place prize. The runner up will receive $200 and the third finalist will receive a $100 bar tab.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We would like the art to be in line with The Pour House motto: love. live. music. That leaves the artwork to be just about anything – graffiti style, a color field, figures, ANYTHING. EVERYTHING. Wow us.
ENTRY RULES & REQUIREMENTS
All artists 18 years of age or older are eligible.
Artists must submit samples or images of the proposed mural artwork, along with an application.
Entries must be of the artist’s original design and making.
If chosen, artist must have the mural completed by September 2nd. Voting will take place on September 3rd.
Paint and some brushes will be available to use by artists.
SELECTION PROCESS OF PARTICIPATING ARTISTS
A panel of Pour House staff will select participants in the painting of the mural based on the artists’ submissions – the demonstrated strength of artist’s concept and craftsmanship, as well as originality of the proposed mural. Spots will be chosen randomly by artists (draw a number). The Pour House reserves the right to refuse any work that does not fit The Pour House’s motto.
